Abstract: | The Anlo, who are a subgroup of the Ewe people of West Africa, have developed a very intensive farming system which involves irrigation, manuring and rotation of crops in narrow drainage ditches. The sections of this case study are: the scheme of interests in land - the resources for the farming system - the sabala (shallots) farming seasons and the cycle of farming activities - gross returns from shallot production.
