Abstract: | Terracotta objects provide evidence of the earliest sculptural tradition in Nigeria. The earliest terracotta sculpture which has come to light dates from 930 B.C. and was found at Kursakata, 24 km. south of Lake Chad. The terracotta sculpture tradition in Nigeria has survived until the present day, sometimes in a traditional context and sometimes in a modefied form. Notes, photos, ref. |
