Abstract: | Space and distance are no longer considered as inert, passive elements by geographers. In many applications physical distance is a less-relevant metric than time, cost or psychological distance. In this study a time-distance metric is applied to the Mombasa municipal bus network. A time-distance transformation reveals the latent distortions in the accessibility surface of Mombasa. Variations in the surface are explained and disaggregations of bus-trips by rush hour/non-rush hour and inward/outward journyes are investigated. Fig., ref., tab. |
