Abstract:The New African Trading Company (NAHV, Nieuwe Afrikaansche Handels-Vennootschap') was the largest all-Dutch trading company in tropical Africa. It was founded in Rotterdam in 1880 and operated in Africa until 1982, when it was taken over by a Pakistani business concern. The present account concentrates on the company's activities in the Belgian Congo and French Equatorial Africa (AEF), where the company operated through a French subsidiary, the S.A. Compagnie Francaise de l'Ouhame et de la Nana. The period covered is 1918-1955 and the information is derived largely from the company's annual reports. Notes, tab.
