Abstract: | The analysis of tonal phenomena is rendered difficult by the relative levels of pitch and by an apparent lack of system in their occurrence. Recent study has provided a methodology of studying tonal data, which can not be properly described without recognition of intonation.Tonal and intonational phenomena must be distinguished and separately described. African tone languages reveal intonational- systems. |
