| Abstract: | The author examines the relations between government and investment in Nigeria. The procedure is the following: the government sector is assessed and therefore fiscal activity is set as to magnitude and its relations to investment. If government is altered, then fiscal activity is in turn affected, with possible concomitant effects upon investment. Changing the government sector takes the form of adding economic activity 'government'. This is, as a first step, a definitional exercise, taking the form of an 'if-then' statement. If the size of government increases, then fiscal activity increases and so on. As a subsequent step the discussion turns to fiscal and economic policy. |
