Abstract: | The behaviour of the demand for money function in the advanced industrialised countries has been the subject of extensive empirical investigation. By contrast, very little work has been done on the demand for money function in the developing countries, presumably because of the state of statistical information in such countries. Making use of data now available for Nigeria, this paper attempts to bridge one of these obvious gaps by estimating and presenting empirical findings on the demand for money function in Nigeria for the period 1958-72. Sections: 1. Specification of the nature of the demand function used in the statistical analysis and description of the data; 2. Empirical results; 3. Summary of the results.
