Abstract: | Revised version of a chapter in 'The Sudan's Balance of Payments 1956-1966, a B. Litt. thesis accepted by the University of Oxford in 1970. The purpose of this paper is to analyse the Sudan's invisible exports and imports. The study covers three periods: 1. from Independence in 1956 until 1960. During this period the economy was managed through annual Development Plans; 2. covers the years 1961-1966, during which the Ten Year Plan 1961/62-1970/71 was in progress; 3. covers the years 1967, 1968 and 1969. The Government had, during these three years, adopted three Stabilization Programmes, a-greed upon with the IMF. Moreover, the Suez Canal was closed in June 1967. This closure had an impact on the trends in invisible transactions. Notes, tables, appendix tables. |
