Abstract:Results of a research project carried out in 1964/ 65 among the African labour force of two large enterprises in Zambia, the object of which was the procuring of data relating to the social processes that constitute 'industrialization'. Research covered all spheres of activity in two firms: in the Rhokana Corporation in Kitwe it included the copper mining and copper treatment branches and the administration of the technical sector as well as of the mine town, whereas in the headquarters of the North Western Region of the Rhodesia Railways it included station services, workshops proper, and administration. Of the whole African labour force a random sample was drawn, whilst of Africans holding positions above a certain level of industrial responsibility, the total population was interviewed, Bibliography.
