Abstract:A broad chronological framework for the Bamenda Grassfields cannot be constructed with any degree of certainty until dynastic graves and shrines are more fully recorded and excavated, and until the chronology of the House of Nshare, the royal dynasty of Bamurn, is more firmly established. In addition, the relations (in war and diplomacy) of Bamum and the trans-Mbam Tikar chiefdoms with the Fulani lamibe of Adamawa need study, as do the routes of trade over a wider area than has been studied in detail so far. In addition, the role of the Wute, Mbum and Tikar as raiders and as effective supporting elements in the Banyo and Tibati lamidates calls for further research. Selected dynastic units: Bali-Nyonga (in Munggaka) or Nyongneba (in Mubako) in the Bamenda Prefecture - Nso (Banso, Nsaw) in Nso Prefecture - Kom (Bikom, Bekom) in Wum Prefecture - Aghwi or Batibo in Gwofon Prefecture.
