| Abstract: | It is deplorable that South Africans have for so long neglected to mount a high-level publicity campaign to explain to their neighbours the tremendous advantages that co-operation and economic interdependence e.g. in the development of water and electric power resources, would bring to the countries of southern Africa. This article explores the possibilities in this area in the following sections: electric power and water: resources and demands - meeting future water shortages in the core region - a subcontinental electricity grid.
