| Abstract: | Contribution to tribal history. The amaCinga aYao comprise the aYao who in the 1830's settled in the Licinga Hills after being driven out from Cao Hill by Nairuwa, the aLolo chief. The country of the Licinga Hills, Kwicinga, lies between the headwaters of the Lureko Stream and the Lujenda River, east of the Lujenda River, and some one hundred and fifty miles southwest from Cao Hill. These hills are also known as the Mandimba Hills. The article successively deals with the Amacinga of Mang'anga, of Msamala, of Kawinga and of Mlamilo or Katuli. |
