Abstract: | The colonial activist Dr. Carl Peters was active as an expansionist in Africa from 1884 to 1893. This article goes beyond the usual condemnations of his behaviour and describes the background to his actions. Carl Peters was first involved in the German East Africa Company and later in the German Emin Pasha Committee. He died in 1918. Notes. |
