Abstract:Description of the experiences and the impact of some of the first English missionaries in Buganda, notably C.T. Wilson, Alexander Mackay, and Philip O'Flaherty. In the late 1880s the Kabaka attempted to purge his Christian supporters and their missionary allies. A period of armed conflict and civil war ensued, which was won by the Christian chiefs.
