Abstract:This paper is intended to serve a dual purpose. Firstly, it attempts to contribute to the current debate and grapple with the problems posed by the concept of the informal sector. Secondly, it examines the contribution of the informal sector to industrial skill training. The primary intention of this second part of the paper is to show the significance of the informal sector in the educational and industrial development of a developing society such as Nigeria. The focus is on the craft segment of the informal sector. Notes, sum. (also in French and German), tab.
