Abstract: | In this paper an attempt will be made to give some idea of: 1) South Africa's rapidly expanding economy, particularly its industrial development, in relation to the rest of Africa; 2) the manpower required, chiefly at the management level to maintain this rate of expansion; 3) the present manpower at different occupational levels which require formal training; 4) the output of our educational institutions at different levels; 5) the leakages of talent in our educational system (a) at secondary school (b) in transition from school to university; (c) at university. In conclusion some constructive proposals are attempted. Tables; notes. |
