Abstract:The increasing importance of bananas (emphasis is on cooking bananas and in less detail ripe bananas) in the diet of the people of Dar es Salaam and its predominance at the Kariakoo market led to the decision to make this study. Problems pertaining to the marketing of the crop are also considered and some suggestions regarding the city marketing policies are made.
