Abstract:The enforcing of English as a medium of instruction was carried through by making it a condition sine qua non for the acquisition of a subsidy for elementary schools. Argumentation: English was the language of the country of which the Colony was a part; 2) English had grammatical rules; 3) Multitude of vernacular languages.
