Abstract: | The role elite Moroccan women play in developing the resources for women to control their own destiny is examined against the background of the social, economic and political climate of Morocco. Some Moroccan women have come to participate in the political process and assume leadership positions. However, the progress made to date regarding development for women has been through individual effort in achieving education and increased access to employment in professional fields, supported by a state policy promoted by the monarchy of legal equality for women with men, rather than through collective action.
