Abstract: | Masai of Kenya and Tanganyika do not want absorption with other tribes into new inter-tribal nations. They fear Western impact and the invasion of their country by land-hungry African agriculturists. The young Masai have formed an unofficial political group which aims to preserve their country for Masai only. They wish to graze their cattle in peace, and would not kill off the game. Their paramount chief is democratically elected for an indefinite period; he has little power and is really a head spokesman for his people. |
