Abstract:The authors of this joint report were asked in July 1951 by the Secretary for Commonwealth Relations to undertake a mission in the Bamangwato Reserve of the Bechuanaland Protectorate to find out and report on the question: whether the tribe of the Bamangwato was in favour of the return of Tshekedi Khama to the Reserve as a private individual or not, he having renounced all claims to the chieftainship: Background - Moves towards a joint kgotla - Alternatives to the joint kgotla - Conclusion - Report by D.L.
