Title:Household analysis of resource base and use on small-holder irrigation schemes
Author:Rukuni, MandivambaISNI
Book title:African regional symposium on small holder irrigation: 5-7 September 1984, University of Zimbabwe, Harare, Zimbabwe
Geographic term:Zimbabwe
Subjects:small farms
Abstract:The situation of farm families on Zimbabwean small-holder schemes differs between three main types of schemes. These are (a) the older type government schemes, (b) the younger type government schemes and (c) those run by the parastatal Agricultural and Rural Development Authority. The older type schemes are more intensive and families have more land than the younger supplementary schemes. The farmers face a number of lack of draft power on government schemes. Farmers also face labour shortages at certain times of the year, as well as cash shortages, which affects the use of purchased inputs. Ref.
