Abstract: | Traditional medicine in Africa is an established part of culture. Some countries have trained indigenous traditional healers for work in the general health systems and have established departments of traditional medicine in the ministries of health and in the universities. Research in African traditional medicine and pharmacopoeia is very much encouraged and is being undertaken in almost all countries in Africa. Malawi is no exception.
