Abstract: | The effects of cow's urine concoction (CUC) and its individual components have been examined on chemically-induced convulsions in mice. Although some components of CUC showed mild anticonvulsant actions, the entire concoction was found to be devoid of anticonvulsant activity. It is concluded that since there is no pharmological basis for the traditional therapeutic application of CUC as an anticonvulsant agent, the folkloric use of this toxic herbal preparation in childhood convulsive disorders, common among the Yoroha-speaking people of Nigeria, should henceforth be discouraged.
