Abstract:It is accepted that coal will continue to play the major role in the supply of energy to the country for the remainder of the century. However, emphasis has been directed to those options which could supplement coal in an economic and technically sound manner. The general conclusion is that certain forms of solar energy hold the most promise and it is in this direction that research, development and implementation programmes should be directed. Ref., tab.
