Abstract: | Observations were made for a period of three years (1974-1977) on 462 Ghanaian university and secondary school students, aged 15 to 27, who had drug problems. Of the 462 cases only 8 (1.73%) were females. The results showed an increase in the number of reported drug cases from 1974 to 1977. The majority of the students had relatively high socio-economic backgrounds. Polydrug abuse in combination with alcohol was a popular trend apparently influenced by contact with western values. Treatment including supportive therapy was encouraging. Ref., tab., French sum. |
