Abstract: | This paper shed some light on the following questions: the quantities of firearms and ammunition annually imported into Africa over particular periods; their types and quality; the uses to which they were put; and the impact of those uses. The paper is geographically limited to the west coast of Africa from Senegambia to north of the River Congo.
