Title:The structure of the central business district of Enugu
Author:Okoye, T.O.
Book title:Urbanization processes and problems in Nigeria
Year:1981
Pages:81-97
Language:English
Geographic term:Nigeria
Subject:commercial areas
Abstract:A study with a delimitation technique based on the intensity of use of the front row rooms of buildings shows clearly that, structurally, the Central Business District (CBD) of Enugu is relatively immature. This immaturity is related to its low intensity of commercial activities, the limited functions of the town and its present stage of developments. Since the CBD is characterized by features that carry over from city to city, it is reasonable to expect that the CBDs of Nigerian towns of the same size as Enugu will have similar characteristics as the CBD of Enugu, though in varying details.
