Abstract: | Commentary on the politics of the World Council of Churches, in particular its involvement in the Rhodesia Zimbabwe conflict through its Special Fund of the World Council of Churches Program to Combat Racism. In contrast to the militancy and near-extremism of the World Council of Churches in this respect is its discretion in regard to Eastern Europe where it appears gradualist, meliorist, conciliatory. It is unlikely that this double-standard policy will change in the near future, despite the fact that some member churches in the West are unhappy with the present situation. Notes. |
