Abstract: | The educated Muslim Ugandan is exposed to two types of education: the Western type, and Islamic education. In many cases, Muslims have mastered one type, but little or none of the other. What is needed is an arrangement that provides Islamic knowledge to the Western secular elite and secular knowledge to the religious elite. Although the present situation of Muslim education in Uganda is had, the future is not totally dark: parents are beginning to respond positively to the call to take their children to school, students are beginning to yearn for both secular and religious education, and the opening of a Muslim University is expected.
