Abstract:The 3rd Summit Conference of Non-aligned States was held in Lusaka from September 8th to 10th, 1970. The first and second were held in Belgrade (1961) and Cairo (1964). The conference, under presidency of President Kenneth Kaunda of Zambia, was attended by Heads of States and Foreign Ministers of more than fifty African, Asian, Eastern European and Caribbean countries. The present paper, submitted by the United Republic of Tanzania at the Conference is based on the theme 'Co-operation against Poverty' and addresses itself especially to the anomaly that the rich nations are growing richer and the poor poorer. It attempts to identify the forces - economic, political etc. - which determine the nature and form of international trade. Next, the paper seeks some practical ways and means for the resolution of these forces with the resultant benefit to the economy of the developing countries. Photos, list of participants.
