Abstract:One dominant strand in Wallace-Johnson's pan-Africanism was his sustained and persistent reaction to the Italian rape of the independent black empire of Ethiopia in 1935. This article highlights this neglected aspect, and stresses how the Ethiopian question reinforced his opposition to imperialism and colonialism. Notes.
