| Abstract: | A sample survey designed to study some demographic aspects of marriage was conducted in Sierra Leone over 1971-72. While the analysis of information collected is not yet completed, this paper sets out the main aims of the enquiry and gives an account of its progress, discussing some methodological problems encountered. The description of subjects covered by the survey may be of general interest but in any case a record is provided, illustrating the problems found, which may in some cases be peculiar to Sierra Leone.
