Abstract:This essay seeks to examine the thought of Mali's Modibo Keita on politica and related topics, in introductory fashion, and to provide a basis for further and more detailed research. First the general range of Modibo Keita's concerns are sketched: Keita' s political thought is eclectic and it is to a great extent pragmatic. Secondly this article has sought to provide a foundation for and to suggest lines for future research, not only on various detailed aspects of Keita's political thought but also on the politically relevant ideas of other African leaders and political parties.
