Abstract:Primary aim is to examine the spatial distribution and ecological patterns of the foreign-origin (=non-indigenous) population in Ghana. The discussion is based on the hypothesis that the existing patterns generally reflect the stages of historical, social and economic development through which various areas have gone since the initial immigration of various groups into Ghana. The aim is to suggest the causes of existing patterns and to examine some of the differences in the socio-economic characteristics of foreign-origin groups: Regional distribution - Urban-rural distribution - Country of origin - Conclusion.
