Abstract: | The most significant aspect of the current Black unrest in South Africa is the way the leadership in the African townships, and to a lesser extent in the Coloured townships, has passed into the hands of youngsters, aged between 12 and 24. The main centres of unrest are Johannesburg and Cape Town. In Soweto township, Johannesburg, and in Cape Town's three African townships, the youngsters have taken over the leadership completely; they have rejected the existing Black leaders, even prominent homeland leaders like Chief Buthelezi. Sections: A 'Cultural Revolution' - 'We are all leaders' - Attitude towards ANC and PAC - Anti-White in philosophy and personal outlook - Any intelligent schoolchild can do it. |
