Abstract:The methods and procedures of rainmaking among four main Mashona peoples of Zimbabwe (Karanga, Manyika, Zezeru and Korekore) differ, but essential in all rainmaking ceremonies is the brewing and drinking of great drums of beer and singing and dancing. The rainmaker acts as a bridge between the living man and the dead spirits, his forefathers.
