Abstract:Describes briefly a religious ritual, which is observed to thank the mhondoro or vadzimu of the larger family lineage for the edible greens and the rains which have produced them. In commenting the ceremony, which was attended in the area of Chiduku in 1968, the author mentions its main function, namely that of bringing into contact the living with the dead, by which one feels assured of the spirits' support and protection.
