Abstract:Purpose of this paper is to raise doubt concerning views which have been expressed on unemployment among secondary school leavers. Shown is that this problem is mainly an economic problem and that solutions have to be sought outside the educational system. Also is shown that the destinations of many of the school leavers will continue to be the main urban centres. Sections: Introduction - Employment in the major towns (Nairobi, Mombasa, Nakuru, Kiaumu, Thika and Eldoret) - Employment opportunities in small towns (Nyeri, Kericho, Nanyuki, Embu, Kitale, Webuye, etc.) and rural areas - Self-employment - Conclusion.
