Abstract:Examines the changing means of witchcraft control in a non-centralized society, the Giriama of Kenya, through the pre-colonial, colonial and independence periods. Through this examination, it is possible to observe the availability of options open to the Giriama, to observe trends, and to evaluate the extent to which political, social and economic conditions underlie the witchcraft control movements.
