It belongs to the Chadic branch of Afro-Asiatic and is very closely related to Hausa. - Three texts are given, each in Gwandara, in narrow and in broad translation. Notes on lexical and grammatical points of interest follow each text. - Text I is a short history of Karshi; text II describes attitudes towards modern education; and text III is an animal fable.
