Abstract: | Referring to comments made by I.C. Ward (An Introduction to the Ibo Language, 1935), M.M. Green and G.E. Igwe (A Descriptive Grammar of Igbo, 1963) and M.M. Green ('Suffixes in Igbo', African Languages Studies 5 (1964), p. 92-114), the author contends that there is evidence that some suffixes are verbal as well as nominal in origin. The arguments and evidence brought out in this paper suggest that the diachronic relationship between suffixes and verbs, is a dine. Bibliogr. |
