| Abstract: | Contribution to the study of business enterprise in Kumasi Central Market, drawn from material collected in 1958. The paper deals with the economic functions of a small but organized and significant tribal group in Kumasi, the Gao, which for a number of years now - at least since 1946 has attracted considerable hostility from some groups of local traders. So the paper is also concerned with a local controversy. |
