Abstract: | This paper examines the problem of the school library in Nigeria and sees it as basically that of the improper education of the teacher himself in the use of the library and lack of appreciation of the importance of the school library as a firm support for the school's educational programme. It points to the insufficiency, and in most cases, a total lack of provision in the curriculum for the teaching of a basic library course to teachers trained in the universities. It proposes a better and more far-reaching programme and gives some other practical suggestons. Fig., note, ref. |
