Abstract: | The author describes the implementational record of education, culture and communication in Togo. The aim is todemonstrate that in Togo it was only in the 1970's that a genuine cultural policy was initiated. This policy, embracing the educational enterprise, was supported by the educational enterprise, was supported by the most upto-date communications resouces, as well as by the tourist infrastructure. The main point, however, is that cultural development was not aimed simply at keeping up with others, or to provide something to boast about. The Togolese cultural policy has been embraced by the people and they can make a living from it. In short, the Togolese have rediscovered their culture, with the people, for the people. - Bibliogr., notes. |
