Abstract: | This article discusses the current debate on the future of the democratization process that has been going on in Africa since the first multiparty elections in 1990. It analyses the main arguments put forward in the debate on the consolidation of democratization, paying attention to the roots of the democratization process, its significance, and its limitations. The author shows that focussing on multiparty democracy could divert attention from the real causes of the crisis in African politics. Notes, ref., text in Spanish, sum. in English (p. 117-118). |
