Abstract:Kenya and Tanzania provide a number of contrasts in their approach to educational development which reflect differences in their overall development strategies. In this article the author argues that, despite these contrasts, there has been little radical change in the structure of education in either country since independence. The sections are: educational development in Kenya since independence - Tanzania and education for self-reliance - language policies. Notes.
