Abstract:Government ministries, parastatals and international and voluntary agents all provide useful locations for affording students the opportunity to encounter, observe and analyse administrative processes and problems. In May-August 1976 a pilot project along these lines was undertaken by the Department of Government and Administration of the National University of Lesotho. The practically-oriented research project has been included as a requisite integral part of the course framework, to be undertaken at the end of the third year of study by students majoring in Administration, to be presented and examined in their final year, and included in their overall assessment. This brief report provides a note on the first experience with a student research undertaking of this nature: Introduction - Preliminary questions - Procedure followed - Problems experienced - Benefits of the exercise.
