Abstract:Two articles on Turkana folk tales recorded by the late Hans-Egil Hauge are presented, edited with an introduction by David Westerlund. The first article contains stories about nature spirits, or 'monsters' in Hauge's terminology, and witches. The second presents some non-religious folk tales about animals which behave like human beings and speak in human tongues, and about human beings. The latter serve the purpose of teaching children correct or moral behaviour. Notes.
