Abstract: | By Shona definition, elopement occurs when an unmarried woman leaves her father's home for her lover's home without his permission for marriage having been given. This article discusses two kinds of elopement' kutiza mukumbo (a woman is found with a man and consequently driven to the man's home) and kutiziswa mukumbo (a woman has left her father's or guardian's home or place through the insistence of her lover.
